For OHTs & Hygienists to be able to administer facial injectable procedures in New Zealand, they MUST do so under a "Standing Order" from an appropriately trained and competent practising Dentist.
What is a Standing Order?
A Standing Order is a written instruction issued by a Dentist authorising a Dental Hygienist or Oral Health Therapist, who do not have prescribing rights of their own, to administer Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Filler procedures.
The issuing Dentist has strict, ongoing obligations under the Standing Order arrangement and must be educated and trained in the use of Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Filler procedures as well as, crucially, maintain annual competency in their use.
The contents of a Standing Order need to be detailed, with specific information required by law. Standing Orders, as well as the practitioner operating under them, are required to undergo annual review, as well as monthly audits of their work.
To assist Members, AADFA is able to provide a fully compliant Standing Order service on request.
AADFA offers the Standing Order service to Members, at no cost, which is tailored to each individual upon fulfilling basic conditions, including:
If you have any questions regarding what is expected of you as a practitioner offering cosmetic services, please contact AADFA via email to: clinical@aadfa.net
You can review the guidelines published by the Ministry of Health HERE, or request a fully compliant AADFA Standing Order below.
NB: Standing Orders are a privilege and not a right of AADFA Membership. All Standing Orders will be subject to approval of the issuing Dentist and neither the issuing Dentists, nor AADFA, are under any obligation to provide a standing order.
